Why did this phrase become our mantra? Because words have power – the power to build others up or tear them down.

As mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, wives, friends and entrepreneurs we felt so strongly the need to communicate a positive and powerful message. A message of hope, encouragement and inspiration. Spreading these words far and wide so everyone could see them – kind of like the idea of when you smile at someone, they’ll smile back. We thought – why not pass on a positive word? You just may get one back. “You get what you give”, as the saying goes!

You are what you speak over yourself – words are POWERFUL.

As Christians, we read the bible and a few of our favourite verses come from the Book of Proverbs. There are 31 verses – perfect to read one daily over the course of a month – and the Book of Proverbs is also referred to as the Book of Wisdom…and Wisdom is referred to as a woman in the bible…just sayin J

Back to Proverbs – here’s a favorite:

Proverbs 18:20 MSG

“Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach; good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest. Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit – you choose.”

This verse is so very powerful in its message and so clearly explains our mantra. The words we live by, what comes out of our mouths, breathe life or death over our situations and the people we connect with each day. We encourage and speak life over our families, our homes, our friends, our situations and our nation.

In making custom pieces, we’ve had the privilege to meet some amazing people and hear their stories, their reasons for choosing the words they chose. Each word so carefully chosen has powerful meaning to the item and the one who carries it. Each of these stories has touched our hearts and has inspired us – solidifying why we do what we do. Stories of triumph, loosing a loved one. Stories of romance and risk-taking. Stories of following dreams and of disappointment with unwavering faith. Each person choosing their word to hold on to as a reminder of their journey. Such beautiful stories.

In the coming weeks we will share stories that may inspire you and touch your heart. Some may make you laugh, cry – maybe both. All will be full of love.

Choose your words wisely, and choose to speak positively over yourself and those you meet.

Be blessed and be a blessing…
